“Teardrops”, The Radios

Ah, this is a classic song I listened to way back when I was a teen at school, 1994! I remember cracking up over their accents with a good friend of mine, who was my seat/tablemate. Video and lyrics. Enjoy, I know I will :)!

An Ode to the Shell

Yet another poem I wrote before leaving uni, as I was about to lose my beautiful Unix account. With commentary, it was part of my Unix .plan file :).

An Ode To The Shell
Dear Shell

There is time still
In my heart, a heavy load
Soon, part I will
Accept my free-form ode

One line of script
And you saw me fit
Anointed with Unix Nature [1]
Awoken, once and forever

The ampersand
My background friend
The hash
Script docs in a flash

for and while
Benchmarking in style
Redirecting to file
On my face a smile

Commandline completion
My eternal companion
Your prompt my dominion
Forever awaiting my opinion

more or less
Your pagers did impress
A blessed sin
How it made me linger [2]
Wouldn’t I like to know!
And ls?
Light on my directory’s mess
Oh kill,
Gosh what a thrill

foo, bar, and baz
Music better than jazz
command not found
advice so sound

Segfault fury
You threw at me
In all its glory
Initiating divine hackery

Synthesis of pipes and redirects
Plethora of commands at your behest
Skillfully accepting my greps
My shell, you are the best

Dear Shell
This is gonna hurt like hell [3]
I bid you farewell.

Good luck everyone. It’s been great (for the most part anyway) in CS.

To those who’ve read/answered/constructively criticized my posts, a
sincere thank you. To those recently graduated, good luck with the
jobhunting (shameless plug: let me know if you have a free spot :P).

And to my friends still struggling – hang on in there :).

A Coder’s Slumber

A poetry I wrote during my uni days, am glad I still have a back-up of my old, now dead (RIP), laptop harddrive!

A Coder’s Slumber

Hours have passed
Bugs have been squashed
Do any remain?
To think not would be inane

But tis late, or early?
To bed I must hurry
Class at 5.30, More code at 8.30
Perhaps even time for some curry

Wait, what’s this
Cement mixers running amiss!
How am I to sleep
When my ears so bitterly weep

Alas it be the day
Where nocturnals have no say
Forcefully I enter realms of slumber
A pox o’ that wretched mixer

Interview with Morihei Ueshiba, Aikido Founder

A short excellent interview with the (late) founder of Aikido. Very funny, very humble character. This clip always cheers me up. Interesting that most advanced souls lose no humility despite their amazing abilities.

Yet another neat, uplifting song, watch the video, and read the lyrics.

I am thankful that I have a place to go to when this down… home sweet home, that old phrase rings true. Wow… I shudder to think that someday, when I have an issue of this magnitude, and what if I do not have a home to go to, no loved ones to console me even though they do not know the full extent of my pain. I pray such a day never comes. Well, Monday morning in Jakarta, hopefully I get hold of the car and am able to do something. Perhaps a trip to the temple, and then, just for contrast’s sake, the mall. Alone :P. Alas :P. Aye, alas indeed.

I wonder, I wonder, if I fell in love with an essence, something so beautiful within, encompassing, engrossing.
Bright, beautiful, kind, loving, caring. An essence uniquely identifying the Individual, not the Personality. I understand now that Personalities, no matter how different, the Essence within, is beautiful, radiant, ever-compatible. It seems too however, that relationships are governed by both, and in the earthly realm, often Personality dominates. It is unfortunate but true, necessary perhaps. In retrospect, I did not think that our Personalities differed a great deal. Ah well, one can hope, no matter what the outcome.

Subtle and intangible
Irrational and incomprehensible
Powerful and life-driving
Never lose it, never tire of it
Live, strive, persist!
Inspire, and be inspired
Know, avoid all doubt
Have Faith

Claws of Steel, Jet Li

Just watched this movie a while ago, very funny stuff. It’s a fairly classic kungfu movie featuring Jet Li as Wong Fei Hung. I shall say no more except that it was highly entertaining, I laughed throughout most of the movie. Of course, I crack up pretty easily – but I’m sure it was actually funny :P.

Ah well, bed time, flying out tomorrow (well day after, late tomorrow, early morning day after), whee!

Through the barricades

Just listening to Spandau Ballet’s ‘Through the barricades’, a beautiful song, old, but timeless. The lyrics are just amazing, definitely worth a listen.
